Employ keyword targeting. This is the classic ranking signal for on-page optimization, and it is still critical today. It does need to balance with the other on-page elements as well to be most effective. Your page title should be naturally descriptive and contain the right keywords. Most SEOs place this near the top in terms of ranking power. It's also important to ensure the title is catchy because this tag is what Google often shows in the search results. This means make it click-worthy! And the fact is all of your copy needs to be buttoned up. You need a lot of keywords that are worked in naturally without keyword stuffing. Many website owners neglect to spend the time analyzing how their page structure actually looks and works for the visitor. Mobile-first. It’s coming. And I still feel that a responsive website, in addition to all the AMP and so, is essential.

Multiply your keyword ideas

Google has spent millions of dollars to create faster load times for search results. If they have taken load times so seriously, shouldn’t you? There are a number of methodologies ranging from complex formulas including many different heuristics to more simplified models designed just to give you a sense of the opportunity. The obvious engagement related thing is social media. Check some social platforms, starting with Facebook and Twitter and Instagram to see if your desired audience is present on these platforms. If you are putting content on your own site, try to keep things fairly uniform. This can help you start building your own following and establish your own voice. Of course, that shouldn’t stop you from doing something that has more of a “shock factor.” Something a little more controversial can draw in big crowds, which translates to a lot of clicks and comments.

Search engine health check

SEO and positioning your website to rank top spots in the search engines require some careful planning. Just like setting up a business or going to war, it requires strategizing for optimal results. You can signal relevancy of your content to search engines by using keywords for your image file name, alt tag, title, description and caption. To achieve and maintain good placements on result pages (SERPs) over the long term, you should follow the search engine’s guidelines and focus on your target visitors (this approach is called “White Hat SEO”). Google and other search engines very quickly identify non-permitted, manipulative techniques and your website could be penalized. Keyword research is the basis of all search marketing. It is the art of explaining what you do in the language that people use, and thus it should probably be the basis of all your marketing activities, both on and off the web.

Don't over-optimize anchor text

On-page optimisation refers to the best writing and content implementation practices you should follow when putting new content on your site. Once you get to know the elements of the page that Google and other search engines consider important, it’s easy to get into the habit of checking them off every time you add a new page to your site. Local SEO refers to making a company's website more visible on maps and in local-oriented searches, often for people seeking a brick and mortar store or a services based business that serves their area. Instead of Internet-based churn and burn we’ll be focusing on building equity in the Internet. So if you see some highly-paid SEO consultant telling you to use software and spun content to generate links, or when you see some blackhatter beating the system, just know that it’s not worth it. We’re going to build authority and get traffic fast, but we’re going to do it in a way that doesn’t disappear or cripple your site in the future. We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "You should see improvements in website traffic, a key indicator of progress for your keywords."

Carve out time for updating and improving older SEO content

Competitor Analysis can help you to identify links, ads and other tools which are working well on other websites. Then, if similar stuff will have equally positive results on your own website, you don’t have to go very far to find inspiration and create your own content. It won’t always work for you if it works for them, but it just might. Don’t try to improve your website’s reputation by buying links or deliberately sharing links. Google has become very good at detecting these types of manipulative measures. It means that you risk falling heavily down in the rankings and it can destroy much of what you have spent time and money on creating. Expect increased conversions, particularly those from visitors who arrived via organic search. SEO helps to ensure that search engines can locate, index, and serve your website’s content to visitors in an efficient manner.
