Keyword research represents the very foundation of your SEO campaign and when done properly, keywords can drive traffic and rankings for your web pages. Keywords represent terms and phrases people type as search queries to find local businesses. Be under no illusions, advanced SEO is a full-time job. However, there are critical fundamentals that can greatly enhance your organic position and ultimately, your organic revenue. SEO, that is ethical and organic, takes serious time. Anyone that claims otherwise is just looking to take your money and run. Head terms are searched more frequently, have less words (3 or less in most cases) and are often much more generic and competitive as a result. Long-tail terms are longer phrases (commonly over 3 words) and more specific. While long-tail keywords are usually less popular, we can usually tell exactly what the searcher is after.

Non-indexable filter pages

Content (marketing copy, etc) may be king when it comes to converting visitors, but for search engine rankings, link weight, domain authority and intelligent distribution of link weight appears to be much more effective, even when it means removing content. Link signals tend to decay over time. Sites that were once popular often go stale, and eventually fail to earn new links. In document analysis, search engines look at whether they find the search terms in important areas of the document—the title, the metadata, the heading tags, and the body of the text. Google, now more than ever, don't just want more content, they want content that they feel is quality.

Become relevant for your search terms

Type in your keyphrases. At least look at the first page (the top 10) and see what everyone else has in their description tags. Does it look like they’re being pulled from the copy on their pages? Some mobile sites refuse access to anything but mobile phones, making it impossible for Googlebot to access the site, and therefore making the site unsearchable. Google does not always show the title tags as you intend it to to show. It might not take the title tags from their beginning if a query best matches words from the middle or end of a title tag. The truth is that you can get bad links every day. Your competitors don’t want your website to rank well. They can plan a negative SEO attack, sending a lot of spammy links to your website.

Facebook shares are second to backlinks among search engine results placement ranking factors

Consider writing a piece of guest content, not for your own site but for a relevant, external site. As part of the deal, agree that you may include a link to your site When you’re looking at a competitor’s web page source code, you’ll see the title tag near the top of the page, along with a bunch of tags used to describe the page’s content. If the site includes it, the meta name= ”keywords” tag should be a few lines below. Both of these contain your competitor’s keywords. Internal backlinks connect different assets — including content, product pages, or other information — together. Naturally, external backlinks will lead to increased brand exposure and sales. Gaz Hall, a Freelance SEO Consultant, commented: "Noindex is a meta tag implementation that is sometimes used on search pages. Since some implementations of filters use the same technology as search pages, you may inadvertently be hiding some of your most valuable pages from search engines."

Getting websites listed on search engines

Click through rate is a good indicator of whether you’re attracting the right or wrong website visitors and if your website content is what your website visitors are looking for. If you’re attracting the wrong audience or your webpage content isn’t interesting, relevant or useful to the audience, your CTR will be low. Understanding and recognizing how PageRank flows can make a difference in your SEO campaigns. The difference in many cases will be small, but in a competitive environment, every advantage counts. The two biggest algorithm changes that Google released to ward off the abuse of link building included the Panda and Penguin updates, which came out in 2011 and 2012, respectively (and received regular updates ever since). One cracked down on websites with poor quality content and the other penalized websites conducting spammy link building efforts. There’s a difference between desktop SEO and mobile SEO, but the goals are often comparable. You want to reach your audience and turn them into customers. In some ways, desktop SEO tactics also work for mobile SEO, but in a slightly different form.
