When you add a new page to your website under the blog section, for example, you add a ‘slug’ onto the end of the URL structure that is already in place. The slug refers to the next few words that relate to your new page You can also use Fetch as Google within the Crawl section of Google Search Console to render your site the way Google sees it on different mobile devices. Another major change in recent SEO is Google’s Knowledge Graph, which first emerged around 2012 – this has increased the focus on Schema.org microformatting making content more simply deliverable. Search Engine Marketing can be defined as a method of promoting or marketing of one’s site to increase its visibility and traffic or, in other words, gain higher rankings on the SERPs (Search Engine Result Page) of any Search Engine.
Take some action to bolster your SEO efforts
The reason social is such a natural extension of search is that it adds both
relevancy and authority. Think about this: According to Nielsen research,
92% of consumers worldwide trust recommendations from friends and
family more than any form of advertising. This is up from 74% in 2007.
The best part about
SEO is that when you start ranking higher on SERPs, you get more exposure, i.e. more clicks, more visits, more links and more mentions on social media. This is a chain of events which takes place one after another. If your current website isn’t using HTTPS then you should start scoping out a migration. One part of SEO many have heard of is keyword research. After all, every time we use a search engine, we’re using a keyword (the name is a misnomer, most keywords have more than one word in them!)
Building An Effective SEO Strategy
People don’t read on the web; they scan. To make scanning easier, use plenty of clear and informative sub-headers to guide readers down a page. Social signals may not
play a direct role in ranking your site. But social shares generate more eyeballs on your content. And the more eyeballs you get, the more likely someone is to link to you. In an SEO scenario, Google likes to trust sites that have links from high quality, relevant sources. For example, large news websites don’t generally link to an untrusted source, nor do top quality industry blogs or university or .edu websites. Whenever possible, avoid changing URL structures. The easiest way to prevent broken redirects is to avoid creating the redirects in the first place.
Create great content consistently
Don’t overstuff your page with keywords and phrases, while shoe-horning in as many variations as possible. Instead write something a reader can genuinely engage with and enjoy or learn from. SEO works by modifying elements on a website like the meta title and meta description of a page to ‘optimize’ it to get the most possible traffic. ‘Keyword targeting’ can determine which words you should be aiming for, and getting links from other high authority sites and creating relevant content on your web page and via articles on your site can shift your website up in search rankings over time. Good link earning begins with quality content that provides value to your potential customers. While content that is poorly written and was only intended to get links will get a website penalized, great content that people want to read will naturally encourage those people to link to it. According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant
: "Write about all those topics that are important to your audience. Use the words you came up with in your keyword research. You need to have content about the topics you want to rank for to start ranking in the search results."
It’s time to revolutionize our approach to content curation
Remember any additional traffic is typically good for your website ranking, so getting people to visit is the most important thing. Measuring the number of
engines that have
indexed your site is an easy
way to check the website
growth resulting from your
SEO efforts. The more pages
indexed, the easier it is to get
a ranking for more keywords. Syndication takes the credibility of the site you’re syndicating it too and transfers all the link juice and credibility (as well as social proof) over to your website. Syndication is a great way as well to gain a lot more visibility for the same amount of work! It helps the search engines quickly determine what the page is about.
