Google’s looking for original text on a subject matter that explores the concept that the page is about, rather than meets keyword relevance standards of yesteryear. Keep in mind that you must write for your readers, and not for Google’s spiders. Don’t do keyword stuffing. Either a piece of content can help your website’s search engine rankings or it can hurt your rankings. If you maintain a blog, of course you want the traffic to your blog to grow. But what if it doesn’t? What if the traffic to your blog is (slightly) decreasing? What do you do?

Structure your content to meet your SEO needs
t’s not necessarily bad to optimize for traffic, it depends on your goals; if you’re in e-commerce or a service based business it is more valuable to invest your resources in making sure you rank well for the terms that are most likely to lead to a sale; optimize for conversion, not just to gain the visitor. The size of your
images can have a big impact on your overall site speed (which is an important search ranking factor). Make sure that your code is valid, in some instances bad code can lead to search engines not being able to properly read a page. Use the W3C validator to check your markup. A backlink from a more important page that is high in popularity itself will count more toward a higher ranking for your website.
